What’s the Best Way to Lose Belly Fat?
July 23rd, 2010 | by admin |Dissatisfaction with belly fat and the way it hangs on their bodies is the number one reason people start looking for ways to get rid of it. There are several ways to target belly fat and lose it for good. Looking into each and combining them will lead to success.
Losing belly fat isn’t just about spot exercises. It’s about several different factors and you will need to look at all of them to plan an effective campaign against belly fat. Stress levels, sleep-or, more specifically, the lack of sleep-diet, level of alcohol indulgence and activity levels must all be taken into account. There is surely one, if not more than one of these lifestyle areas in your life that can be modified, ensuring optimal belly fat loss.
Take inventory of these lifestyle factors and pick the ones you think you can accomplish immediately. Going at all factors all at once may overwhelm you. Failure to lose belly fat is not an option, so start slowly, making the necessary changes as comfortably as you can.
One of the easiest places to start is in the area of how much water you drink. Water acts as the body’s lubricant and makes sure all processes are operating smoothly, including the digestive track. Happy digestion is great for eliminating belly fat.
Alcohol is far too easy to overindulge in, as the beverages can be quite tasty, but the excessive calories are not only adding to your belly fat problem (there’s a reason why they call it beer belly), but the calories ingested from alcohol are pretty much worthless. They provide very little in the way of nutrition, but do a whole lot more damage in the long run. If you feel you cannot eliminate alcohol altogether, cut back to the very minimum you imbibe each day.
See if you can eliminate some of the stress in your life. Stress causes the body to manufacture too much of the hormone cortisol. Cortisol is the “fight-or-flight” hormone and will slow you metabolism. A slow metabolism is lousy at burning belly fat.
Some of your fat inducing stressors will be immovable, that is, you may not be able to eliminate some of your stress. If this is true, then consider learning some relaxation techniques, like mediation, Tai Chi or Yoga. These activities produce peace and balance to your mind, and dealing with stress becomes easier as a result. Less stress equals less cortisol equals a faster fat burning metabolism.
Your diet must be scrutinized. The typical adult diet these days if filled with fried foods, products manufactured from white flour and saturated fats. All of these are not only unhealthy, but are major contributors to your weight problem. To lose belly fat, you need to ingest healthy foods. Whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits and unsaturated fats are on your list now for prime health, less weight and improved digestion.
Activity levels in your life will need examining, too. Strengthening your core with resistance training will improve your posture, take some of the stress off your joints and improve muscle tone. You’ll feel better physically and emotionally as you improve brain function through oxygenation, and as the weight diminishes and that svelte, sexy belly starts to appear, your attitude will change for the better. Activities that burn belly fat are all-over aerobics, like swimming, walking, jogging, bicycling and skating.
Different people will take to each method differently. Everybody’s body is different and all people have differing levels of each of the above mentioned factors. So, it may take awhile to figure out just what works for you and what doesn’t. But just making the effort to lose belly fat will go a long way towards improving your self-esteem and general confidence levels. Doing something-anything-to reduce fat is the goal, and it is a very attainable goal for your lifestyle and your health.
