Should i Ab exercises with weights?

Hi,should i do sit ups using my own body weight or with some additional weight.
Does it make any difference?
Would using weights on ab exercises get my abs stronger and thicker?

Ab exercises that don’t involve shoulders or won’t hurt them?

I used to have a good ab routine when i went to the gym but after my recent shoulder surgery i have slowly been returning to the gym and it seems like all of the old exercises seem to aggravate it. I would really love to start doing some ab exercises again, as i feel so out of shape! Does anyone have any good workouts or exercises they could reccommand that won’t bother them as much?

would ab exercises make you look skinnier?

I know theres no such thing as spot reducing. or a specific spot to lose fat on, i just want to know if you train your abs a lot would it APPEAR that you look skinnier? does it pull your fat in since its more tight?
im a male btw.
